Story of Padam / Written by Padam

In this post Padam will share his story and life with CCDP. Story is written by Padam.

I was born in 2058 BS, Jestha-13, in Jumla district of Sarmi in low class family. My birth place is Jumla which is in very high Himalayas and undeveloped part of Nepal. I was born in the place where there is very difficult to run development work where there is lack of education facilities so I didn't get opportunity to go to school when I was child.

There was school but it was very far from our home it took almost 2 to 3 hours to reach so at time I couldn't go to school that far. The path was very dangerous, hard to walk through the forest; we had to cross the river so it was difficult to attend class. My family status was not good to provide us facility to go to school.

In 2063 BS my father left me, my family and the world so in my family he left mother and five of us. I still have memory of father while we spent days together in my childhood. Our family status was not good while my father was still alive and when he used to earn little bit money for food from which we get to eat twice a day or sometime thrice.

After he died our family condition became worst day by day. So from childhood I started taking goats and cattle's for grazing. It was very fun to rear animals at time but while looking for the future it was very difficult. We used to take our goats for grazing. From high hills we used to see beautiful places, weather used to be was very cold, and while playing with snow it was most fun. I use to spend my daily life in that way.

In 2067 BS I heard about the opportunity to go to Pokhara in CCDP home to study. I had lots of friends at that time and I was also sad to leave my friends at that time. After two years I got opportunity to come in Pokhara, CCDP home. Between those two years it took time to make all the documents required in CCDP.

Due to God's blessing I got opportunity to come here. But my friends didn't get that opportunity. I am happy that I am here in safe place to get good education, facilities and improve my future. I was unhappy too because I had to leave my childhood friends and to leave my family, village.

I came in Pokhara in 2069 BS. This changed my life.

In beginning I was very weak in studies. I took tuition classes to learn from tuition teacher for a month. I was admitted to class three in Shree Siddha Secondary School in the mid-year of class three. I went to school but it took lot of time to get familiar with the environment of school and also Pokhara. I did hard work to learn, read and write. I learned many things from friends and CCDP family. I got opportunity to develop myself, change myself into a literate person.

After four years I went back to home, village. There was vast difference than before. I find myself self-better than my friends in education because there are still many who have left their studies to earn money. I met all the relatives, friends and neighbors.

This was the time that I felt change in myself, how education can change a person life, I felt the difference within me when I was illiterate and when I became literate. I spent one month holiday then I came back to Pokhara CCDP home. I felt that my village is very dearest to me and is still in backward condition and I have to do something for my village.

So I tried harder in my studies to succeed in my life. I gave my best in my studies, everyone liked me, and most of the people became my friend. Slowly I felt proud and I got courage to step ahead to improve myself. So I am doing better in my school performances. I have goal that in future I want to do something for the family, CCDP and society. Now I have reached grade 10 which is also known as SEE in Nepal. I'm going to appear for SEE this year and hoping to get goods result in grade 10.

After completing grade 10 I'm thinking of choosing some technical subject and study further so that I can contribute towards my family and CCDP through work.
